This Book is about a boy named Josh he play's for a baseball team called the Titans. Josh is the best player on the team and one of the best player is the tournament. Josh is a homerun hitter and an amazing short stop he is one of the most feared players when he comes up to bat. He also has a friend Benji he is also on the Titans not as good as Josh but still plays a big role on the team. Josh has one more friend that is not exactly on the team but is still a big part of the team. Her name is Jaden and she is a reporter for the towns paper and she found out some important information about the other team they will play the next game that will decides of they go home or go to Cooperstown one of the biggest baseball tournament in the country.

That day a couple hours before there next game against the Nighthawks that will deiced if they go to Cooperstown Jaden finds out that the Nighthawks best pitcher that can pitch up to a speed of 75-80 miles an hour is pitching and is planning something that is not really playing within the rules. Jaden said that she was talking to Planczeck's  girlfriends and she told Jaden that if there game comes do to it Planczeck will beam Josh in the head. Josh was startled by this news but he was not intimidated in anyway he just went by his day normally and got ready the game.

In the game Planczeck started pitching and the Titans went on a role taking the lead early with the help of Josh hitting 3 home runs in 5 innings. Then the Nighthawks caute up to then and was only down by one run into the last inning. It was 5 to 6 and the Titans were up to bat the first three got on base but the next two struck out and then Josh was up to bat with the bases loaded. That is when Josh started remembering what Jaden said to him about Planczeck but he was not scared in any way he walked up to the plate and was ready to hit his fourth home run. The first pitch came in right at Josh but he was able to get out the way. Josh pops right back up and is ready to hit, the second pitch comes at him a curve looked like it was right down the middle but it curved right into Joshes eye. Josh went to the ground and blacked out for a couple seconds. To be Continued....

Prompt: Character Relationships

Miss.Maudie and Calpurnia are same alter egos because they both have a strong connection to the Finch family. The two characters also have good relationships with the kids. Like how Cal takes more of the motherly role of the family and Mrs. Maudie lets them play in her yard she also has a good relationship with Scout. One other way that they are the same is that they both are in the later stages of there life.

Some foils between the two characters are that Cal is a lot more strict with the kids and Mrs.Maudie is more friendly with the kids. Like how Mrs.Maudie lets them use her yard and how she talks to them very friendly. On the other hand Cal has to be a little more strict with the kids because she is more like the mother in the family. Another difference is that Cal is black and Mrs.Maudie is white. Mrs.Maudie is white so she would be respected in most places but on the other hand even though Cal is respected in the Finch household she probably would not be respected in many other places.

The two characters have a good relationship with Scout. Mrs.Maudie for example when Jem and Dill ditched Scout Mrs.Maudie helped Scout by talking to her telling her stories and things like that. Mrs.Maudie also supports Atticus and his decisions which means a lot to Scout. Cal a strong relationship with scout sometimes rocky but strong nonetheless. Cal sometimes yells at Scout a bit more then I would like. al does teach scout some important lessons and gets them engraved in Scouts head. These two characters have helped Scout become the young girl she is. Cal taut Scout discipline and manners. Mrs.Maudie taut Scout different stories that had moral values and also if Mrs.Maudie didn't help Scout when she was all alone scout could have turned into a very lonely girl and would have been a very different character then what she is now.

Observation: 

    What I see in this picture is a older man in a very large field full of cattle. He is smoking a pipe which is not that common to do today. It also seems to be a nice summer day either in the early morning or in the later afternoon due to the shadows of the trees. 

Reflect:

This man in the field looks like he is part of the lower class due to his close he wears. He is probably owner of the land because usually the owner of the land is the one who works it. The cows are probably for food for the owner, selling the meat to get money, or for milk and its dairy products. Because of the clouds and the shadows I can tell that it is a nice bright day. He might also be stressed or board because when I know that people usually smoke because they are stressed or board. 

Questions: 

Why is the man watching over his cattle? Whey is he smoking? Is the land his? What kind of living conditions, Is he raising the cow for there milk or meat? What time of day is it? How many cows are there, How much land does he own, Where does he live?

Could It be Maycomb county:

After I looked over the photo I found out that it could the farm land that Maycomb has. Its could be the same because most likely since Maycomb is a large agricultural based town is must have large properties with animals.  Also because lots of people work in the farms the wont have as nice clothes just like the man in the picture. On last similarity is that people usually dont smoke pipes anymore and were used a lot more during the great depression and TKAM is also based during the great depression.

Prompt: Summarize about what happened in the book

   The character in this book is Cassie. Cassie lives on a 400 acer farm with a mom dad grandmother named Big Mama three brothers named Little John, Stacey, and Christopher- John. Every year Cassie's dad has to go down to Louisiana and lay down track. He does this because selling the cotton that they grow on there farm was not enough to pay the mortgage on there farm. Her us a important quote that Cassie's dad said to her to make her feel better about him leaving for almost the whole year "'Look
out there, Cassie girl. All that belongs to you. You ain't never had to live on nobody's place but your own and long as I live and the family survives". This was important to Cassie because then she finally realized that he did truly love her and he only leaves because he loves her.

   A couple of weeks after Cassie's dad leaves for Louisiana school starts. Since they are a colored family and have to go to a black school they don't get buses and have to walk a couple of miles every morning to get to school which must be brutal for the kids. So on the very first day of school the Logan kids were dreading having to walk miles to get to school except for Little John, Little John could't wait to learn. After walking for a while the Logan's hear a car engine and Stacy yells run hide get of the road! But there was now place for them to hide and a couple of seconds later the Logan kids are drenched in water from a the passing bus that came from the white kids school a couple miles away from the Colored kids school. As the bus driver saw the Logans walking an the road it sped up and slashed them with the water a near by puddle.

    After weeks of walking to school and getting harassed by the white kids school bus Stacy finally had enough. He got Little John Cassie and Christopher- John to help him dig a big ditch in the middle of the road and filled the whole with water so that the bus driver thinks that it is just a small puddle but it is really a huge whole that is about two feet deep and about four feet wide.  Later that day when they were walking home they hide in the forest where they dug the hole for the bus to get stuck in and waited they waited until the bus came along and fell in the ditch where the bus was severely damaged and the white kids would not be able to use it for about a week.

 

Blog Nightjohn November 10

There was one specific incident that showed information about mammy. It was after Nightjohn taught Sarny her first word "Bag" and the Master saw her writing it in the dirt. Since writing and spelling where illegal the Master was furies but instead of grabbing Sarny and whipping her he grabbed mammy and tied her up in a well and left her hanging until later that day when he would whip her in front of everybody. After the Master left her hanging in the well Sarny came running over add said "I'll go get Nightjohn he will help" but mammy said  "no there is nothing he would be able to do, anyway the master would have to whip me sooner then later for something". This is showing that she has seen so much of the whipping that it is like a way of life for her. 

Before Nightjohn taught Sarny her first word mammy caught nightjohn teaching her how to spell and started yelling at him because she did't want Sarny to get caught spelling. But Nightjohn disagreed he told her that you need spelling to get along in life when you are in the North. Then mammy got suspicious and said "how do you know what life is like the North" and Nightjohn said "because I ran away from my last plantation and got away until I was captured in the north and taken back down here". This dialogue reviled that Nighjohn has been free and 





 

Passion Project Update

Six weeks have passed since my last post for the Sports Camp we have accomplished a lot. I have finished the poster that we will put around berwyn to get people to know about are camp. Jesus has also finished the email that we will send to Bounce Sports and the Berwyn Rec. My group has also narrowed it down to spring break when we would want to do the camp. Jesus has also finished the phone call script incase Bounce or the Rec had some questions for us. And finally we are thinking of fundraising money incase are sponsors (Bounce or The Rec) wont be able to provide the materials needed.

NIGHTJOHN Blog November 3rd

Prompt: Summarize what has happened

         This story is about a slave named Sarny she is also associated with Nightjohn. Sarny as any other normal slave she is no educated and she is still considered a small child due to her lack of intelligence. Sarny is not to fond of her master she dislikes him because he is a cruel person and pushes his slaves to the edge of death. During her free time which is almost never given she lay's down is the corn field trying to remember his past life but she was never able to remember her mother because she was taken away from her when she was a baby.

          Then Sarny started talking about her first encounter with money. She found a penny in front of the masters house and she showed is to her mammy (Not birth mammy). And when she her mammy saw the penny she told Sarny to hide is where no one could find it except for herself. "Slaves like us don't get paid so when you find money save up so maybe one day you could buy your freedom." So Sarny did so and she still has the penny years later.  So every day she digs the penny back up after everyone is asleep and she rubes the penny until it shines once again.

         Since Sarny is not strong or old enough to work the fields she helps take care of all the babies in a small shack not that far away from the masters house. Since she does not have such a labor intensive job she gets a lot more free time to herself where she likes to think about past memories. And the main memory that she was thinking about was when she first met Nightjohn. It was a normal day for Sarny until she saw a man naked with a chain around his neck being taking into the corn field. Sarny did not learn that his name was Nightjohn until later that night.  Unlike Sarny Nightjohn is considered a smart he knows how to read and knows basic education. Nightjohn even made a trade with Sarny one pinch of tobacco for three letters he would teach her A,B,C.


P.S I meant to spell mammy like that because that is how she spelled it the book.

     

   

Fortuntatos Revenge Narrative.

      On a festive day during carnival 13 year to the day after Emiliano Montresors (Montresor from The Cask Of Amontillado) beloved friend Fortunato went missing.  There was a 14 year old girl called Alba she was Emilianos daughter. Even though it was carnival Alba was in her room having Emilianos read her a book to fall asleep. "The End, okay Alba I am going to head out to carnival do not sneak out and go carnival with your friends is a dangerous place for a young girl". Come one dad you never let me go anywhere during carnival" "And there is a good reason for that" Montresor said as he walked out the front door and headed to were all the excitement is.

      "He never lets me go anywhere during carnival. All my friends are going why cant I just go". As Alba walked from her room into a Beautiful room that had amazing paintings on the sealing exquisite stained glass everywhere and one large painting of her dad herself and her mom. She was never able to meat her because she died of an illness a year after Alba was born. After thinking of her mom Alba all of the sudden got sleepy so she headed up to her room were she had an amazing view of carnival. "Wow look at all of those colors" Alba thought to herself.  Alba then drifted of to sleep starring at the brilliant lights coming from carnival. At the end of the first day of carnival Emiliano got back home and immediately ran up to Albas room to make sure she was there but to his was surprise she was not there. When he got up to her room he herd a loud crash Emilianos ran down stairs and to his horror he saw his daughter trying to get into his wine cellular which has been locked up for years.

         As Emiliano looked at his daughter he could tell she did't know what she was doing. When Alba saw her father she let out a blood curtailing scream that would fill fear into even the hardest man. Then Alba collapsed onto the group and was unconscious for an hour until she finally woke up. "Are you okay dear" " Yes dad I am fine but I did want to tell you something what did happen to Fortunato 13 years ago?" "Nothing sweaty just" "stop lying to me! I want to know the truth please just tell me" "Okay but first I have to tell you why I did it".

         Well here we go it was a warm festive night today 14 years ago to this day when you were about one year old your mother and I went to carnival with Fortunato to go get a drink. But after a couple of hours of drinking and partying Fortunato lost control unexpectedly probably because of drinking. When we tried to calm him down he nocked me out cold and when I woke up your mother was gone. I was looking for your mother all night and when I finally found her she had been murder in Fortunato's Wine vault. I did't inform the police because I wanted to avenge your mother, I wanted to kill Fortunato the way he killed your mother." That is why I decided to kill him on the day he killed your mother and that is also why I decided to kill him in a wine vault but instead of killing him in his vault I killed him in the vault you are standing above right now. "Dad I don't feel to good right now I think I should go back to bed". Thats okay sweaty what ever you need". As Emiliano walked back to his room after putting Alba to sleep he quietly fell asleep until he heard a crash like glass breaking. He ran to Albas room and to see his daughter in some kind of trance walk out the window and plummet 10 stories down onto the concrete.  

Ripper Book Blog 31 October

Prompt: What has happened

         There is a crazed man running around New York City.  People thought he was died but he is back moving away from London and now is bringing his terrier to the big apple! While this is all going on there is an orphan boy named Carver around the age of 13. Carvers main adjective so far is to find his parents. He first starts by breaking into a box with all of the kids files that live in the orphanage. He finally picked open the lock and found his name, the only thing that was in his file was a small letter written by his father. The most mysterious thing that the letter said was "I'm not buckled yet and the knife's still nice an sharp foe more grand work".

         Know to make things worse for Carver the orphanage is shutting down and know Carver has to find a family to stay of the streets.  To help Carver and the other kids find a home the orphanage held a party for all these important people including the President Roosevelt. Carver never found anyone at the party so he decided to sneak away and try and find where his dad was. His dad left him clues in his letter telling Carver were to look (Don't want to spoil anything) so while carver was looking for the spot the orphanage leader Mss.Petty found him but she was not alone. She was with Carvers new legal guardian he was a detective and would help Carver learn how to code and do other detective things like that.

        The man that adopted Carver his name was Hawking,  Hawking is an older man that is kinda grumpy but also has a small sense of humor. Right away Carver packed his bags and got ready to go and start a new life with this man. Carver soon realized that Hawking was some kind of inventor that invented all different kind of thing like making home appliances better to making better elevators. Carver was amazed when he finally was able to see hawking base where they could make all of these inventions with the help of other scientists. They are not allowed to talk about it so that the government dose not find out it is still not clear why.


 

Passion Project

My project would be to make a sports camp for 5-9 year olds. We would teach kids how to play basketball and soccer. This would help the smaller kids get used to the games so that they could have even more fun when they start playing for the next season. Some places that we are thinking of asking to see if we could use there facilities  are Bounce, the Rec, and the Y. We would get this out there for the public to see by posters and also the internet.

Reflection on the first quarter

        This quarter I have learned about important events that have been happening around the world. I have learned more about Ferguson then I would at home. I learned both sides of the Ferguson story and also came up with my own opinion of what happened that day. I also learned more in detail about what is happening with Ebola. I learned that it started in Africa and has now come over to the US and is now starting to infect American citizens. I have also thought of my own opinions on what we should do with Ebola after researching about it and finding out how other countries are dealing with it.

         My research has also improved this quarter because of all of the topic that we have had to research. My research has gone up causing the product of my projects in any class to go up. I have learned different kinds research techniques  like staying away from websites like wikipedia, ask, and answers.com.  I also have learned to cite my sources which gives better credibility to the websites that I had in my project

Then And Now Book Blog

Prompt:Analyse the difference between my first blog and my last one.

The first difference in noticed between my first blog and the last was the grammar mis spelled words. In my first blog my writing was choppy and had lost of errors but after doing them so long I my writing has gotten a lot better grammar wise. In the beginning of seventh grade I miss spell simple words because I would try and finish quickly. But after a year of doing things I have gotten used to taking my time and trying to go over my final writing.

The second difference is see is that my summaries had gotten more detailed and I have learned to not just add quotes as my evidence or details. My first blog was the bear minimum of what I had to right it was't very interesting and didn't have detail. Now after a year of blogging my details have gotten more in-depth and since I have been writing with more detail my paragraphs have gotten longer and more interesting.

Deathwatch Literary Devises and Imagery Revised

       This book in about a boy named Ben that agreed to be a guide for a man named Madeac who is hunting bighorns. Madeac is a cruel person that shoots anything that moves the only reason why Ben agreed to be his guide is because he will get paid for it. After a day or two in the desert Madeac accidentally shot an old prospector walking alone in the dessert. The problem is that Madeac realizes that Ben will testify against him and to solve this problem Madeac stripes Ben naked takes all his water away and makes him walk the rest of the way back to the nearest road.  

       Imagery in this book was used a lot more then literary devises so far. The Imagery did help with making the scene more dramatic and also helped transferring scenes. The example I wanted to point out is 'his feet bleeding again, staining the moonlight on the stones". This saying that Ben has been walking for so long that his feet are blistering up and it is also describes the scene because it is saying that the moon light is very bright and making the stones glisten.

        Literary devises lacked in this book so far it hasn't had any similes, idioms, metaphors, analogies E.X. If this book had more literary devises it would be a lot more interesting and easier to read. This book so far has been a little dry with it having know literary devises if it did have idioms similes and things like that it would make the book a little easier to read and also makes it more entertaining then just people talking back and forth.

        The first technique that I want to talk about is the style that the author used. The words in this book that the author used made the book seem mysterious and also kinda evil. A quote that I want to use from the text is "Im not buckled yet and the knife's still nice and sharp for more grand work" I don't know about you but I would not want to run into that person that wrote that letter. The author would also add word like gloom, dim, what if, and careful to add mystery to the book. The audience that I think the author wanted to target was kids in there teens because some of these word that are in this book are a little more violence and complicated to understand.

         The second technique that I want to talk about is the mood of the book. In the beginning of the book you could just tell that something was going to go just because of the setting the setting gave of a feeling of danger. In the first scene you are going down into a dark basement with a man with only a lamp for light that just shouts trouble, well you know how the rest goes. After I read this first part of the book  I felt like there was someone watching me even though there is know one there.

          I the second scene the mood was completely different it was more of a mystery or hopeful kinda mood. The main characters name is Calvin and he was in the attic trying to find out who his parents where and if they were still alive. When doing this he would be breaking the law for looking at peoples reports but he dose not care. He finally picked the lock and got into the cabinet with all the kids information and he found his name the only thing in the folder was a note, a note from his father. Calvin read this note over and over again trying to make anything out of it. After I read this part of the book I kinda felt bad for Calvin because all he wanted was to know who his family was but instead I just found a note that really meant nothing.

Prompt:Setting and Characters

The setting is in a desert the name is not given. It is in the middle of the day and that is when the sun becomes most deadly. Since Madec is trying to kill Ben, Ben is heaving to run to places that normally people would not see. He stayed in an abbandoned house to take shelter for a night he also was able to see a beautiful sunrise that shined the most beutiful light. Not every place was good he also had to walk across on open dry desert he had with no food and no water.  

Madec is a brutall and a no mercer kind of guy. When Ben agreed to help him find a bighorn ( a rare animal that you can only hunt with a permits witch is very hard to get) Madec would shoot anything that moved. After a couple of days Madec finally thought he found a bighorn he took the shot but when they go to retrieve the body Madec found that it wasn't a goat but a human. Madec shot a person walking in the desert alone and looking for civilization but Madec is so brutall you didn't want to bring the body back to town because  he dident care enough to. In the end after some arguing Madec threatened to kill Ben but instead of shooting him he made Ben take of all his clothes and then started to chace him across the desert. 

Ben on the other hand was a rationalist and was the thinker. He only took the job because he needed the money for school. He hated Madec from the beginning he thought Madec was a cruel and selfish person and been just wanting to get it over with. So hen Madec shot thaterson Ben wanted to bring him back even if he dident know the man, Ben wanted Madec to go to court because Ben was so used to Madec killing things that he thought maybe it wasn't on accident. So when Ben was on the run he was able to survive the elements and stay away from Madec only because he new the enviornment so well.

The Ten Books That Changed My Life

1. Unstoppable: Tim Green
This book spoke to me personally because it reminded me to never give up on something that you love. First he had an abusive family but he kept on trying to make is life better. He ended up getting away from that abusive family and started living with this very loving family who took care of him and gave him the option to do whatever he wants. That is when he chose to play the sport he loved the most.  

2. 13 Reasons Why: Jay Asher
This book impacted my life because it made me realize that the smallest thing hurt the most. In this book the character takes her own life but right before her death she sent tapes to 13 different people. These 13 people are the ones that influenced her with her decision and what I noticed is that a lot of the reasons are the small ones that people wouldn't really think could hurt a person.

3. Out Of My Mind: Sharon Draper
Out of my mind helped me realize how lucky I am to not have a disability. This book was very emotional because this girl in the book wanted to fit in because of her disability even though she was a very kind and polite girl. It's sad because no one gave her a real opportunity to show her intelligence and feelings.

4. The Giver: Lois Lowry
The Giver made me realize that the world could be a hole lot worse. I am always focusing on the negative things about this world rather then the positives. This book made me think a little bit more about what is good in life and once I thought about it I found that there are a lot more positives rather then negatives.

5. Mice Of Men: John Steinbeck
This book helped he find the true power of friendship and not just something that is convenient for you. In this book the friendship was not convenient at all one of the friends always was holding the other friend back from getting rich but he kept on hanging out with him because they were good friends. I sometimes forget about the power of friendship and how much you really need your friends to make it through life happily.

6. Esperanza Rising: Pam Muñoz Ryan
Esperanza Rising reminded me to appreciate what I have because it could all be taken away from me before I know it.  In this book Esperanza had everything a girl that age could want she had money a loving family and beautiful dresses until it was all taken away. Just like Esperanza I take my life for granted sometimes and I think that my parents will always be there but in reality they wont be there one day and that is what this book made me realize.

7. Hatchet: Gary Paulsen
This book taught me to never give up even if things looks like it is impossible to accomplish. In this book the character had to survive in the wilderness for months by himself. He even survived a tornado, I know sometimes I don't try my best on something because I think it is to hard I give up because I am loosing but this one book should me that it could get a lot worse.

8.Wonder: R.J. Palacio
Wonder helped me realize that I should be happy for who I am. I say this because I sometimes wish I was another person because they had money or something else. In this book the character never really wished he was another person even though he dose not look like the other kids at school. Knowing that I wish I was someone else and I don't have a deformity or anything like that makes me feel disappointed in myself because I now know that I could be a lot worse.    

9.  The Giving Tree: Shel Silverstein
The Giving tree showed me the power of giving back. I usually take take and take from people but never really say thanks to that person. Just like in the book when the tree kept on giving him things but the boy never said thanks or showed any kind of love to the tree. What I think is that the smallest things like a hug a thanks or something that comes from the heart are the things that make a persons day. The thanks dont have to be big all the time and that is what this book taught me.

The Eleventh Plague: Jeff Hirsch
This book taught me that we need to help are planet instead of destroying it. To often the people of this world take life for granted and think that it could always be fixed. In reality life is a very precious thing it to many miracles for life to exist on this planet and we just destroy this world by polluting the air and water the two most important things we need to survive. This book made me think more about the future of this earth rather then just the present day.

13 Reasons August/17/2014

Prompt: summarizing about the story and the settings

In this book along with the tapes Hanna also sent the people a map with stars on it. Each star is connected to one story and one person. So after that person was done listening to the tape they had the option of going to that star on the map and find out the whole story or just settle for what the tapes said. So Clay went to every place on the map and I am going to talk about the two places that I think had the biggest impact on Hannas decision.

The first places I am going to talk about is the fourth place on the map. It is this boys house the boy's name it Tom also known as Peeping Tom. One day Hanna was in her room when she heard a click of a camera but she thought it was nothing until she heard it several times and that is when she looked out side her window but did't see anyone. So the next day she getts this girl to help her catch the person taking pictures of her in her room. Hanna and the girl end up never seeing the kid but they did find out that the person did go to there school so they asked around. Everyone said just at my house except one person Tom he got defensive when they asked him and that is when Hanna knew it was him. This was important because that was Hannas only safe haven and it was taken away from her. Clay ended up walking to Toms house and found Marcus there throwing rocks at Toms window because he wanted Tom to know what it was like to not have any privacy in his own room. That is where figured out how much privacy ment to Hanna. 

The second places im going to talk about is the eighth place on the map. It is the library because Hanna loved poetry and there was a camp there for poetry so she signed up. And that is where she met Ryan he wrote the schools Lost-N-Found Gazette he would look in the lost and found and find the most interesting thing he could find and wright a article about it. Ryan ended up going to the camp also and they would show each others there poem and Ryan loved one of Hannas poem's he asked if he could wright an article on it but Hanna said no. So the next day the new Gazette came out and Hanna found out that her poem was on it it was stolen from her. This was important because it took her love away from poetry. Poetry was one of the very few things she still loved in her life.

13 Reasons August/8/2014

Prompt: Summarize about what I read

     This book is about a girl who commits suicide her name is Hanna Baker. But before she died she left 13 recordings . The cassettes where of her talking about why she killed herself and the people that had to do with it. So for each recording there was a person so therefore the name 13 reasons. So the day before she died she mailed the full of the recordings to the first person of the first recording.

      Each person has to listen to there story and why caused Hanna to kill her self. After that their are two things the person can do,they can either keep listening and learn about the whole story behind is who els was apart of it. Or they can listen to the next recording just enough to find out who the next person was and send it to them. If they end up not listening to it then there would be a second copy of the recording sent out into public so the whole world find out what they did to Hanna.

     
She narrator of the book was not Hanna or the recordings but a friend of Hannas who was on the tape. Clay was the name of the friend and the story will go on and off between the recordings and Clays experiences throughout the book. When he does get the BOX he is very puzzeld to why he is on the recordings he never did anything he was even her friend. After a hour of listening he learned that he wasent the first to get the box full of the life changing objects.

     The first character I want to talk about is Melody she is the main character. She has a condition call Cerebral Palsy it makes her not capable of walking,writing,and talking. So she is basically incapable of communicating naturally. So all teachers and doctors think that she is not capable of learning which is entirely wrong because she is one of the smartest kids in her graded but is just not capable of showing it. She is a very positive girl even though lots of kids do make fun of her and think she is dump. That is why I think she is one of the more inspiring characters I have read about.

      Rose is going to be my second character I want to talk about. She is the one person who stands up to the bullies that pick on Melody and is Melodies only friend. She is very organized and is also a perfectionist. The one real flau with Rase is that she sometimes goes and hangs out with Molly and Claire (The Two people that bullie Melody the most) and leaves Melody behind. But overall Rose is a very good friend to Melody even some times goes and hangs out with Melody even when she dosent want to just to make Melody feel good.

      The last person I want to talk about is Mrs.Valencia. She is Melodies neighbor and is pretty much  Melodies older best friend. She babysites Melody and her little sister Penny all the time. Mrs.V is one of the most important people to Melody right next to her parents because she is so positive about everything Melody accomplishes and does. Mrs.V is also a very important piece in Melodies learning development.  Mrs.V also has Melodies parents trust 100 persent because of how nice and caring for Melody she is.

       This story is about a 11 year old girl that has photographical memory.Yes is easily one of the most brilliant kids in the school but no one knows it because she can't wright can't walk and can't talk! It is terrible because everyone thinks she is dumb. Even her teachers don't think she is capable of learning even though she knows everything an average kid would know. Imagine having to keep all of you emotions inside and not be able to tell anybody out them.

        So instead of going to the regulare class she is stuck in the special ED class. So every day Melody is faced with having to learn the exact same thing every day. The was only one person who really thought that Melody had learning potential and that was her mother she was the one always arguing at the doctors that she is capable of learning and even arguing at the teachers to move her up into the normal classes.

        So one day Melody was given a personal divise that gave her the chance to choose words that she wanted to say but the words were very limited. Finally after years of waiting the school opened up a programe that allowed the special ED kids to go to regulare classes and learn what the average kid would learn. But of course there always has to be a couple of bully's that would make fun of Melody  when she would't be listening. But like always there has to be one nice girl that would defend Melody when they would make fun of her and that girls name is Rose Melody's only friend.

Prompt: Paragraphs and Questions

After the attack the none dauntless traitors decided that it was't safe at the candor compound anymore. So they decided to go back to the dauntless compound because they figured that the traitors would all be at the Erudite compound. Before they went back they had to come up with new leaders to make decisions. So they nominated Tori, Harrison, And Tobias as the leaders they decided to kill Eric the once leader of Dauntless and now a traitor.

Once they killed Eric they move back to the dauntless compound and shot every camera with paintballs so that the erudite could't spy on them. After a couple of nights Catherine wake sup Tris and tells her that there are some people that are being controlled by the simulation but they are not hurting anyone instead they go to the roof of the compound and what for Tris and Catherine their. The three people that were being controlled was a little girl Hector and Marlene. Tris was very good friends with Marlene and Hector so it was very hard to deiced how to save. Christina already saved the little girl so Tris ended up having to save Hector so Marlene.

Some Questions I had:

Why did the author want to put Tris in this position?

Why did the author decide to have Hector and  Marlene be the ones that went under the simulation?

Why did Tris save Hector and not Marlene.

What made them kill Eric was it anger or was it because they were forced to.

40 Book Challenge

          The 40 book challenge has helped me read multiple books like Wonder and The Giver that I would normally not read. I have read about 20 books this year this is a lot more then I have ever read in one year. In 6th grade I probably read about 3-4 books because I would't be able to find a
book that would interest me. But the challenge forced me to read different kinds of books that I actually found to enjoy. Even though I wont be able to complete the challenge I definitely did better then all my other years. So every year am going to work on reading more books then I did the past year.
 
          I did this by setting goals for how much I should read each week. I would read before I go to bed and when I would have free time during school. I am going to able to read more books next year by finding books that interest me because those books I would be able to read the fastest. Over all the 40 book challenge helped me open up to different kinds of book.

When Tris and Tobias got to the Candor compound they were placed under arrest for being accused of helping the Erudite. But to make sure the candor leader made them take the truth serum so that they would have to take the test even if they did't want to.  The candor leader found out that they were not trying to help the erudite and let them go. The only bad thing about the truth serum was that it made you tell personal things so Tobia found out about some things that Tris did not trust with him. So that night tris and Tobias have a fight about trust and things like that but after a while things got al better.

After a couple of days staying at the compound the erudite attacked but not the same way they thought they would. Instead of guns they came in with somewhat like tranquilizer guns but instead of the knockout stuff it was the simulation serum. It wasent meant to kill anyone but it was meant to find out who was divergent. Tris was able to make escape and call for help. So finally the none traitor dauntless got there and started to fight of the other dauntless.

After the simulation wore of  everyone was back away and back to normall. But tobias found out something that could be very terrible for them. The erudite found a way to make a long lasting simulation serum. The only reason why they got a away the first time was because the simulation whore of and the fact that they destroyed the simulation controls. But now the Erudite will be able to control everyone for a longer time witch could lead to disaster for the none traitors.

          The first setting in the book was the Amity compound. The Amity compound was completely self reliant it grow it's own food made it own electricity and needed no help from the other factions. The symbol for Amity is a huge tree so in the middle of their compound Tris described it as enchanting and beautiful. The compound also has a beautiful orchard that has apple trees and other fruits that the Amity grow. The way the  Amity act is like a Democracy but to the next level.  Every little thing is voted for, every person has a role even if is not the most important role they still feel like they are very important.

          The next setting they went to was the factionless compound. It was not sanitary and was not the private at all. Their was garbage everywhere, their was also hundreds of mice and rats running around feeding of the garbage. But the factionless where trying to make the place look nicer by panting and the walls. Everyone sleept on the floor everyone used the same bathroom they did not really have space to move around comfortably . The factionless compound was still the largest faction out of all of them.

          The third Setting was  the Condor compound. The Candor compound had black marble floors that had there symbol in the middle. The compound looked like a dormitory it had small rooms lined up down long hallways. And the biggest room in the compound was the auditorium that is where Tris and Tobias where questions under the truth serum. As you got higher in the building the rooms become somewhat like jail sels this is where the people that would create trouble stay.

This book is very interesting so far. It picks up after Tris and Four stop the simulations and are heading to the Amity compound. But before they are able to stay they will have to be accepted by the Amity citizens. They were able to stay but under one condition they can not bring any violence to the compound and they also have to do daily chores.

That night when Tris was walking in the orchard she over hears Marcus and Jeanine the Amity leader talking about something that sound important so Tris follows then and hears something about the flash drive she took from the simulations. The next day Tris catches Peter trying to take the flash drive and they start to fight. They are then given a warning from Jeanine about there agreement. Tris decided to not go to dinner that night and climbed up a apple tree and sat there instead. But after an hour she hears cars witch only means Erudite so she runs to all the Abnegation people and warn's them about the Erudite people

They all then run quickly to there rooms and put on Amity clothes so they could blend in and try to escape. Erudite then call an all amity member meeting to try and find Tris and the rest of the run aways. So Tris and them are forced to go but they end up fighting there way out when they see a erudite member coming to them. The erudite also had Dauntless members with them and they had very good shooting skills so they picked of a good number of Abnegation citizens while they were trying to escape.

This book is really good so far. It is about two men that are trying to make a living.  One of the men is short scrawny but is in charge of the other man his name is . The other man's name is Lennie he is huge and muscular but he is very forgetful and sometimes ruines it for george and him. Lennie and George are friends but not really close friends because george is always insulting and saying how easy his life would be is Lennie wasent their.  But George still cares about Lennie enough to not just ditch him and leave. Lennie likes soft thinks so h like's to pet rabbits, mice, and puppies  because of their soft hair. Lennie would always find mice and catch them so he could pet them until he accidentally squishes them to death.

George and Lennie both want to have money wich it something they dont have so they are now looking to find a job on a ranch but the bus driver kicked them out and they had to walk a couple of milles to the ranch. After walking in the woods for a day they finally got to the ranch and they met there boss and the bosses son Curly.  Curly dosent like big people because he is small himself so he likes to pick on Lennie.

Prompt: What happened

After Tris chooses Dauntless she then leaves her family and moves to the dauntless camp. She trained for weeks going through three stages of training to see what their ranking would be. She had to go through combat, fear simulations, and a fear room simulation. Tris ended up coming in first in all of her trials. Because she was divergent she was able to manipulate the simulations so that she was able to get a major advantage over the rest of the kids.

The night after the induction ceremony Tris was awakened by the rest of her initiates marching in what seemed like a sleep. She followed them and ended up finding Four. Four was her counselor that helped all the initiates with there combat skills. Four was the only other person that was not acting like a sleep walker. He told Tris that the cerium they took was actually a controlling devise runed by the Erodite faction. The Erodite leader wanted to destroy the Abnegation faction so that they can take over everything. The cerium did't affect Tris or Four because they where both Divergent.

Tris and four both slipped away on the train so that they could stop the Erodite's. But their where just to many and they ended up getting captured by the Erodite's. Four was then given a cerium that made him think enemy's were good and friend's where enemy's. Tris was about to be drowned in a pool of water when her mother came and saved her. They where headed back to where the rest of the Abnegation people were including her father. They where almost their until a soldier shot and killed her mother but Tris got away.She then found her dad and her brother hiding. They both agreed to help her destroy the controlling room. They where able to shut it down but not before her father was killed to trying to escape.

Poetry Response 

Poetry plays a role in my life in multiple way’s. My mom and dad are both into poetry my mom is a little more into it then my dad. She has kept books from high school and collage that are filled with poems and names of authors. My dad doesn't have books filled with poetry like my mom but he still now’s how to right it he sometimes gives me ideas on what to right. Poetry sometimes brings my family together when we they help me. One day when my sister goes into the 7th grade she is going to have to ask me for help just like how I asked for help from my parents. Over all poetry has brought my family together. 

I  do think poetry does belong to every person. Poetry dose not just belong to the rich but also belong to the poor. I even think that poor people need poetry more than the rich because poetry can give inspiration and hope to the hopeless, poetry gives them a way to speak there mind without being judged. I went to a poetry slam in Chicago once, some people there did not have a lot of money. But that didn't matter to them the only thing that mattered to them was to get there message through to the people. I think poetry belongs to everyone even if they are poor or have a lot of money. 

I think life experiences affect the author’s poem in many different ways. First of all I think that if an author has a not so bright life then they would be influenced to right a dark poem. Something that proves this is when I went to a poetry slam and most of the poems where about struggles and hardships that they had to endure when they were young. I also think that some of the characters in the poem could be based off of a person that played a significant role in the authors life.  Like if the person encouraged the author to purse a dream in real life then maybe the author could have written a poem about how the person encouraged them

Prompt: Characters

So far we have met only two main characters. The first one is Tris Prior she has a brother named Caleb we will talk about him later.  She is sixteen and is about to take a test that will help her decide what faction she wants to be apart of for the rest of her life. She is part of the Abnegation faction currently but then you take a test where it will help you figure out what faction she wants to go in for the rest of your life. You can stay in your faction or leave and go to another faction but once you choose there is no going back.

Tris was terrified to take the test because she still has no idea what faction she want's to go in.  She is also worried about being faction less. Faction less is when a person does the virtual test and the test resultes say that they don't belong in any faction. This is kinda like hobos but they get food and things like that from the government. After she takes the test the resultes say that she is divergent. Divergent is rare it is when a person shows the same aptitude for several factions. In Tris's case she is equally aptitude for Abnegation,Dauntless, and Erudite.

The next main character is Caleb his sister is Tris. Unlike his sister he is not nervous for the test because he nows what he wants to be.  Caleb is vary courteous and mature just the qualities that are qualified in Abnegation. He also has a lot of confidence and knows what he wants to do. Unlike his sister he always follows the rules he never questions he never argues he just does what needs to be done. Him and his sister both always look out for each other but they are both have completely different personalities.

        Catherine is one of the main characters in this book. She is a really good drawer she does the best when she is drawing faces and portraits. She has a brother named David that has autism. She doesn't really handle it that well she just always want's to avoid him. Like when she has a friend over she always leaves the house so that David doesn't bother them. She also is kinda annoyed that her parents never pay any attention to her and that there whole life revolve around him.

        Even though catherine has a hard time dealing with it she still does love and care about her brother. Like during the whole book she is telling him rules that will help him not get into trouble or will help him later in life. Some of the rules she tells him are Chew with your mouth closed or no toys in the fish tank things like that. Also when her parents are gone she has to take care of David she sometimes draw pictures of him to make him happy when he gets angry.


         David is also one of the characters in the book. He is Catherine's younger brother that has autism. Every week he has to go to a therapist where he learns to control his emotions and things like that. Dave dose not really know simple rules that we learn that is the reason why Catherine has to wright him all those rules.

Reflective Blog

                   In seventh grade I have done 25 blog posts. I have shown improvement in my grammar and also in details. I used to just right plan bog posts with lots of grammar mistakes but I have now added literary devises and also cut down on spelling mistakes. I would like to work on during 3 and 4 quarter is getting rid of all grammar problems. I would also like to work on my detail and try and explain the book better.

My favorite blog was the Eleventh Plague Spoiler. I liked it because I think I described what happened better than a lot of my blogs. I also liked it because it was one of the blogs where I started cutting down on the grammar mistakes. Another characteristic that  made it on of my favorite blog was that it was about one of my favorite books so it felt really good finishing it and moving on. The only thing I would like to change was the length of it It fells like the blog was to short to fit all the details in it.

Prompt: What is was about

        The main character of this book is Kiyoi he is Japanese and loves art. Early in his life art was important to him. His mother never let him go out side and play because she was afraid of him getting hurt. So to keep him inside she gave him comic books to read. When he was reading Kiyoi got fixated on the comic strips and started trying to draw them. Kiyoi could't show his drawings to his father because his father thought artistes were lazy and not responsible people. Kiyoi was a very smart student but he was never able to completely focus he would always draw sketches in his notebook during class. But one day his mother and father divorced and him and his sister had to move in with their dad for a couple of years until his mother came and took them back.

         After his mom took them back they moved in with their grandmother. His mom ended up moving into an apartment and Kiyoi had his sister had to stay with their grouchy grandmother. One day his grandmother told him that if he gets into one of the most prestiges middle schools in japan than she will give him money to by his own apartment at the age of only 12 years old. Kiyoi accepted the offer right away he wanted to make his apartment his own art studio were he can draw.  

           He ended up getting into the middle school had alos got his apartment. The very first night he spent in his apartment he read the newspaper that had a article on a boy that also wanted to be a cartoons't  but his parents said no so he walked for 16 days to Tokyo to find the most popular cartoons't in all of Japan and asked him if he could be his apprentice. So Kiyoi had the idea of walking over to Master Noros home to see if he could take him as is apprentice. Master Noro accepted and taught  Kiyoi. Until Kiyois dad came one day an offered him to come with him to America. Kiyoi accepted and that is when he started to draw for a living

This theme of this poem is confusion and sadness. Have you ever experienced when friends fight and you just want them to be friends again. Well thats what my character is feeling like. I think this poem describes this because words are used like confusion, tension, can't, and trembling. These word clearly describe the pain and sadness the character is going through. I added the people yelling to represent the friends and then I also added the tear drops to represent the sadness of the character.

"Don't Judge"

The theme of this poem is equality and fairness . I think that these phrases describe the people that are judged because of their rase or how they look. All of these monsters names are examples of things being judged by their name or how they look. Like Frankenstein if people did't judge him on how he looked then maybe he would't have killed the people but maybe be friends with them. The last phrase was ment to state that all these monsters could have beautiful souls if they were given a chance. I think these phrases make sense because people that are judged because the way they look or because of their rase can also relate with this poem.
