Final Reflections 9 Questions
Lessons, Memories, Nicest thing
The three most important things that learned from this class is to not wait until the last minuet to do your homework. I did that a couple times and fell behind like that and I was up all night trying to finish it on times. The second things that I learned it actually pay attention during class and don't just goof around the whole time. In the beginning of the year I would always talk during class and I would pay attention so I was really confused when it came to actually doing the assignment. The most important things is that reading is really important to do. Reading can improve your vocabulary and grammar and I did not know this before. One thing that I will remember even after I leave this school is the time that we had a winter party in are class. We all brought food and candy and ate is all while watching a movie and talking with friends. It is one of those small moments that you will never forget. The nicest things someones has ever done during this year in this class was Abdiel always helping me stay on top of work and other things. Like in the morning he would make sure I did my homework for the class and he would always help we if i was confused about something.
What did I teach Mrs. Larson, Biggest Improvement, and Challenging Part
The one thing that I could think of was teaching Steven how to have fun during class while still paying attention and learning. I tried to let him relax more instead of being so uptight but I also realized that sometimes being uptight is a good things and that it sometimes helps you. What I improved most in is grammar. In the begging of the year I was terrible at grammar always making the small mistakes which eventually added up into a big problem. I still have lots of room to improve but I have mad a change from the beginning of the year to know. There have been lots of challenges throughout the year but the most difficult one was the Seaworld/blackfish essay. I say this because you g=had to do research and come up with coiner arguments for your claim which I struggled at. It just pushed me a lot farther then I thought I would and I learned a lot from it.
The Best Piece of Writing, My Favorite Book, and Advice
My most impressive work is the Seaworld/Blackfish essay. It might not be as good as some of the other essays I was impressed on how good of a grade I got. Even though I only got a B I thought it was written well. I had those small mistakes that added up which really hurt my grade but overall the writing I feel was the best I did this year. The best book I read was Maze Runner. It had the excitement and adventure I need in a book for it to be interesting to me. It was one of those books were I couldn't stop reading it and I rarely find a book that does that.I am looking forward to finishing the series. Some advice I would like to give to the kids coming in next year it stay on top of your work. So many times I feel behind and it was really hard to catch back up. I also recommend to pay attention in class you do not want to get on the teachers bad side. There are so menu more things I would like to warn the next group of kids but that would take way to long to both write and read.

Life is Beautiful blog 4/16/15
“Life is beautiful” and “Night” are very comparable. The movie and
the book have many similarities and differences at the same time. An example of
a similarity is that both the movie and book starts off happy and right before
the concentration camps were started. They also both have foreshadows of
something bad is coming. Like how in the book "Night" Moshe the
Beatle warned the town that something bad was coming but know none listened. In
the movie "Life is Beautiful" the horse was tagged saying
"Jewish Horse" this was one of the signs that something bad was going
to happen. One difference that the book and the movie had was that in
night the whole family was Jewish but in Life is Beautiful only the father and son
were Jewish but the mother decided to go with them.
The mood and tone of the book and movie
both started of very similar. They were both happy and cheerful in the
beginning. In the beginning both Guido and Elie didn't have many problems
they both had good lives and were not experiencing many hardships. But once the
Nazis started killing the Jews the mood changed. In the book night the mood
starts turning negative things all go down hill but in the movie the mood stays
somewhat positive.
Life is beautiful throughout the movie
even though they are so close to death in many ways. An example of this is when
Guido and Dora get married and love is the only thing that Guido cares about
while they are in the concentration camps. He keeps life beautiful my always
loving Dora and his son like when he try's to communicate to Dora by playing their
wedding song on the speaker to let her know that he is alive and that he loves
her. Guido also keeps life fun for his son, which gives him happiness. He has
to make sure that Joshua survives and the only way to do that is to lie to him
and keep making him happy. These are the two main examples that I found from
the movie, which represented life being beautiful.

Morrie Aphorisms Project
Aphorism- “Money is
not a substitute for tenderness, and power is not a substitute for Tenderness.”
It means that money can’t replace the love or the feelings that you have towards someone. I think what Morrie is trying to say it that the same with power, power is not as important as family friends and love. I think what he was trying to say that people are so involved in trying to get money that they are not taking enough time to be kind. What he is trying to say for the second part is that people think power is everything and when you gain power they forget about being kind to other people and being tender.
This
quote can be applied to many things. This theme is used in lots of
movies like in "Thor" when Loki betrays is own family (Thor) to
gain power and control over earth. Or like the movie "Million Dollar
Arm". The main character started of as a rich person who
had no respect for other peoples he though he was
better then everyone else. He lost his tenderness
and respect towards all people because he had all the
money he needed. There are many more examples of this theme more than I could
write down. It has also been in history and is still happening today, even
though I can't think of any examples right now I am sure there are people right
know that put money and power in-front of people.
Personally I
agree with this quote. I agree that tenderness is more important than power and
money. The sad thing is that some people don't see that and they think money is
all they need when really that family and people. Imagine if everyone wanted
money more then family and friends. There would be no love just power and
power doesn't always bring happiness and if you only have power and
no people that care about you it would probably get lonely real fast. We need
family and friends to keep us going during hard times and good ones. Without
that what is the point of life. An example from the book
"Tuesdays with Morrie" is “Love each other or
perish.” this is saying that love is more important than anything even
money and power. Love is the only thing that stays with you forever. Money
and power slowly goes away over time but love doesn't it stays with
you even after death.
